Top 3 Summer Skin Care Tips for Healthy Skin

Summer is here! The most gorgeous of seasons :) This is the time of fun outdoor activities, seaside adventures, grand parties, good vibes in the air, getting away with wearing swimsuit all day long, delicious food and so much more. Life gets sunny, life gets eventful and I like it this way!

Amidst all this I must admit I often forget to take proper care of my health and looks. Facial skin especially needs extra attention during the busiest and hottest of all seasons. So to help myself and hopefully help some of you guys, I’ve summed up three useful skin care tips or practices rather that could be easily implemented in our daily routines and are extremely beneficial to the facial skin. A little twist in your day-to-day skin care may be of good service both to your looks and health.

To be completely honest, I was inspired to share my summer skin care tips to create awareness about maintaining healthy skin by an interesting brand I have discovered recently. Dollar Shave Club is a club for razors and grooming supplies delivered monthly! The three things you could start doing straight away to improve the look and feeling of your face skin during this gorgeous season are super simple. We all know about them but we do need to be reminded from time to time what’s good and important for our skin :)

  1. Skin protection comes first.

Skin protection is the most essential thing one needs to do during summer. The sun is shining relentlessly for hours and hours and we often spend the whole day out and about. Exposing our skin without protection to the sun with time could lead to developing premature wrinkles, age spots and other unpleasant skin conditions.

It’s important to use a broad-range spectrum sun defending product on your face and apply it regularly. Specialists advise on using a sunscreen with SPF of at least 15 and renew the protective layer every two hours. Personally, I don’t re-apply that often but I make sure to use high protection.

I have incorporated this step in my morning skin care routine using La Roche-Posay Anthelios Blur with high protection of SPF 50 against UVB and UVA rays. It’s suitable for sun-sensitive skin and it gives smooth tinted finish which is perfect when you’re in a hurry and don’t have the time for full make-up look. It’s also water-resistant, non-perfumed and paraben-free.

I’ve been using La Roche-Posay Anthelios for years now and I’m happy with their sun protection products. I’m still on the hunt for a good natural alternative, though. Any recommendations are welcomed! :)

  1. Nourish and moisturize skin.

This is another crucial step to add or to emphasize rather in our daily skin care. Hot weather is extreme to the skin. It wears down its look leaving it feeling and looking dehydrated, coarse and uneven.

My trusty helper in getting the skin of my face to its healthy state, looking plum, nourished and taken care of, is avocado oil. Surprise, surprise, oil again! The most horrific thing one could put on their face in summer, some of you may think. It works wonders! Trust me :)

I use Avocado oil from A for Avocado. This oil penetrates extremely well trough the human epidermis. Rich in antioxidants and amino acids, it actively nourishes the skin leaving it protected from the free radicals (developed at higher rates when skin is exposed to sun) that diminish elasticity and distort its healthy look. Avocado oil also helps effectively in lessening the visibility of wrinkles and prevents the appearance of new ones. Additional benefit is its natural SPF 15 created by the monounsaturated fats it contains forming a thin protective layer on the skin not allowing the sun to damage the our precious cells.

I use avocado oil in my evening skin care routine as it is quite thick in consistency. I put two extra drops around my eyes and this substitute very well for night eye cream. My skin in the morning is amazing!

  1. Hydrate skin from the inside out.

You’ve probably heard that a million times now. Drink your water, be persistent about it and your health will benefit tremendously. Healthy hydrated body means healthy replenished good-looking skin, too.

I personally find it hard to incorporate the necessary amount of water in my daily routine. There are certain tricks, yet, that I try to play on myself to get more water in my system. One of them is having fresh fruit in the water that could make it smell and taste delicious, and make you want more of it :) Try it!
